A+ School Rewards Frequently Asked Questions!

Q.   What are A+ School Rewards?

A.    A+ School Rewards are points that accrue with each purchase using the BONUSCARD. At the end of each month, GIANT will determine your school's cash total, which, then, is automatically credited to your school's account. Customers can designate a school(s) (up to two) to benefit from the A+ School Rewards that accrue.

Q.   How can I designate my school?

A.   After signing up for the BONUSCARD, customers can complete a School Designation form by filling in their BONUSCARD number and the  School ID Code(s) of the desired school(s) (up to two) to benefit from the program. Q.   What happens if you designate more than one school?

A.  Customers can designate up to two schools to benefit from the program per household.  A+ School Rewards are divided equally among each designated school. To ensure all schools receive proper A+ School Rewards credit when designating multiple schools, include each school’s ID code on one Designation Card.  Filling out multiple designation cards will negate all previous designations.

Q.   How are A+ School Rewards earned during purchases?

A.  GIANT will donate 1% of participating customers’ total BONUSCARD purchases to designated schools.  Customers will earn 1 point for each $1 spent, which can be tracked on their receipt or on-line. 

Q.   What can schools do with the money?

A.  Once your school receives the check, it's up to the school to decide the best way to use it. It could be to purchase computers, buy new cheerleading uniforms, band instruments, or other useful educational equipment.

Q.   What are the program dates for the 2007 / 2008 school year?

A.  The program begins October 7, 2007, and runs through March 15, 2008.

Q.   How will schools know what they earned?

A.   You can track your school's success by visiting www.giantaplus.com.  Results will be posted monthly starting at the beginning of November.

Q.   Can my school participate in both A+ School Rewards and GIANT’s Cash for Causes program?

A.  Yes, schools eligible for A+ School Rewards also qualify for a special 5% discount on any gift card purchase over $500.  For details and additional information on our non-profit gift card program, please call 1-800-380-3814.

Q.   What if my school is not listed as a participating school?

A.  Schools must enroll to participate in the A+ School Rewards Program.  Please have your school administrator visit www.giantaplus.com (only the school administrators may enroll a school into the A+ School Rewards program; individual customers may not enroll a school to participate). All accredited public, private and parochial schools grades pre K – 12 are eligible to participate.  Your school may be required to provide a copy of the school’s certification from the State Board of Education. Homeschools and daycares are welcome to enroll by calling our toll-free hotline at 1-888-GIVING-2 (1-888-448-4642).  The program is not open to other non-profit organizations.   

Q.   Are some items excluded from earning points?

A.  As required by law, the following items are excluded from earning Rewards Points and receiving price discounts: milk (PA & VA only), alcohol, tobacco, money orders, postage stamps, lottery tickets, pharmacy prescriptions (NY only) and any state and federally funded prescription plans including Medicare, Medicaid and government funded programs in all states. Additionally, the following items are also excluded: gasoline purchases (both prepaid and at the gas station), gift cards, amusement park and any other tickets, Western Union wire transfer services, fax service, copying machine service, coin operated vending machines, utility payments, prepaid telephone calling cards, delivery charges, dry cleaning, fund raising activities and donations, returned check service fees and payments toward store charge account balances. Rewards points and percentage discounts are calculated after all of the aforementioned items, all store discounts, and all coupons (including manufacturer coupons) have been subtracted from the order. There will be no Rewards points earned or discount received on the amount of sales tax and other taxes owed by the consumer. However, the discounted price reductions given on taxable items will reduce the amount of tax owed on those items.

Q.   What is GIANT’s Privacy Policy?

A.  GIANT will not disclose your name, home or e-mail address, or phone numbers to anyone without your permission, other than companies in our corporate family, companies that perform services for us and sign a confidentiality agreement, as required by law, or in other limited circumstances described in our complete privacy policy.  We may use your information for our own sweepstakes or reward mailings, which may include special offers or coupons.  For a complete copy of our privacy policy, please visit our website or call 1-888-814-4268.

Q:      Why are schools required to include their tax identification number? What if I do not have one?

A:      GIANT needs to obtain this number in order to have the school set up as a vendor for payment. All accredited schools are issued a tax identification number but if you are a Home-school we will need your social security number.
